LOST AND FOUND PROCEDURE
(Including Patient Personal Information)
Authorized linen personnel (Utilization/Distribution member, Linen Supervisor, Linen Tech.) or Security Department will notify
ATH office of the lost items and when they were discovered missing. Patients and unauthorized personnel calling ATH regarding
lost items will be referred back to one of the above. The only exception is if our staff can identify the found item
(such as in the case of a wallet, cell phone etc.). Then ATH personnel will contact the owner directly by mail if there are no
specific instructions to return the item to the facility. We request appropriate ID before turning over the found item to the owner.
The information will be recorded on the monthly Lost and Found Log.
Patient Personal Information situations. In the event HIPPA Protected Patient Information is found among soiled linens the
materials are immediately turned into an ATH Supervisor / Manager. The Customer Service Manager will deliver the items directly
to the facility’s Security Department for processing. Each member facility has its own unique handling / reporting process
concerning HIPPA sensitive materials. It is the customer’s responsibility to follow-up and follow-through completing that process.
